The Story Behind The Song
When Music Director John McEwen decided
to compose a contemporary version of The Lord’s Prayer, he had no expectations
beyond seeing one of the choirs he directed perform it. After months of
intensive work and over 200 changes and edits, the song was performed for a
Tampa Bay church, receiving a standing ovation. Weeks later, the song was
performed a second time and received the same response.
Nothing could have prepared John for the
weeks that followed. People that heard the song approached this songwriter and
musician, suggesting that he consider unveiling it to the world. An outpouring
of unconditional financial emotional support ensued, and within only a few short
months, John was busy recording the song in a professional studio.
People of all ages have been inspired by
this powerful version of one of the world’s most commonly recited prayers, and
choirs around the world are beginning to sing it with joy in their hearts.
